Corporate Technology Services (CTS)
HARTING KGaA's Corporate Technology Services (CTS) is a recognized laboratory for the qualifying of electromechanical and electronic transmission systems for the markets of the information, automobile and automation industries.
The laboratory is accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and provides support during product development and qualification, as well as develops innovative basic technologies and provides consultation for technical solutions.
A laboratory with 25 employees from the fields of physics and engineering science forms an integral component of CTS.
The laboratory is appropriately equipped with modern testing and measuring systems that offer the highest level of testing precision. The appropriate testing and measuring devices are developed for defined requirements so that each product can be tested individually.
Quality tests at CTS have long served as an integral part of the development and production cycles within the HARTING Group. Corporate Technology Services is consequently one more building block that forms the HARTING Group's understanding of quality.

Research
Corporate Technology Services cooperates with renowned research facilities and industry partners on the development of new materials and surfaces for electrical contact systems and MID components.
The common basis of these material developments is thin layer technology that has proved to be an excellent tool for the exploration of new material compositions and alloys and that is also an established procedure of the coating technique.
The work is carried out in the context of research projects.
ECON
ECON - Electrical COntacts on the basis of Nanostructure materials
BMBF project, MaTech, promoting number: 03N3109A
In this research project Me-DLC surfaces (Me-DLC = "Metalline Diamand like Carbon") are developed as a corrosion and wear-resistant surface compensation for electrical contact systems. Special attention is paid to use in high temperatures and under mechanical vibration load.
TSAR
TSAR - Development of new Ternary Silver Alloys Resistant to sulfidation
EU project, GROWTH (5th framework program) promoting number: G5RD-CT-2002-00725 TSAR
This research project deals with the development of new 3-layer silver alloys for electrical connector systems and decorative applications. The main focus is on the prevention of sulfidation of the silver surfaces.
TRANSFORMAT
TRANSFORMAT – Development of layer materials with TRANSFORMing and multifunctional qualities
BMBF project, MaTech, promoting number: 03N1087F
In this R & D project, layer materials of different material classes are developed with regard to the place of the dissolved transformation of different physical qualities. The transformation is written by laser structuring in the layers.
The functionality of this structuring is to be used on mechatronical MID components.
