Our environmental policy
Our environmental policy defines the principles of environmental protection according to which we in the HARTING Technology Group conduct our activities. Defined by the company management, it is generally binding for all activities and at all sites of the HARTING Group.
We understand nature, society, the economy and each individual company to form part of a global ecological system, the balance and biodiversity of which are decisive for the continuity of all life, and we take the obligation upon ourselves as a commercial enterprise to assume a special responsibility for preserving our natural environment.
We are convinced that the sustainable use of natural resources such as water, air, soil, as well as flora and fauna, must be secured by the instruments of the market economy, and that we must work together to achieve continuous improvements.
We see enormous entrepreneurial opportunities in an environment-orientated free economic order which will also secure the wellbeing of generations to come.

As an internationally operating company we can only exist if we pursue the objective of sustainable development in economical, ecological and social dimensions.
With this knowledge in mind, we undertake to act according to the following principles:
- HARTING consider the safety, as well as the protection of persons and the environment to be a matter of fundamental importance. The company management will review these eco-political principles at regular intervals for new requirements and create processes for their effective implementation in company operations and provide the necessary resources for this.
- HARTING promote their staff's sense of responsibility for the environment and encourage increased awareness for possible ecological damage resulting from the company's activities and products.
- HARTING promote and reward their personnel for their involvement in improving the Group's contribution to the environment by equally evaluating all suggestions for improvement within the framework of the HARTING idea management system.
- HARTING continuously reduce the hazards and risks involved in production, sale, use, recycling and disposal of their products in the interest of the protection of their employees, neighbours, customers and consumers, as well as the environment. Safety, health and environmental aspects are already taken into consideration during the development of new products and production processes.
- HARTING take seriously questions and concerns from the public regarding the products and company activities and respond constructively.
- HARTING actively inform the public about any environmental effects ensuing from the company and about environmental contributions made by the company.
- HARTING inform their customers about the safe use, application, recycling and disposal of their products. We continuously strive to improve our knowledge regarding the possible effects of our products, production processes and their impact on people and the environment.
- HARTING obligate the companies operating on behalf of the HARTING Group to observe the safety, health and environmental standards of the HARTING Group.
- We consciously use our resources in a responsible and efficient manner.
- HARTING consider the respective national legal and political regulations as minimum requirements and strive to achieve a higher degree of safety, health and environmental protection throughout the HARTING Group.
- HARTING have their Environmental Management System and environmental contribution continuously inspected by an independent auditor.
